Transshipment in the UAE follows a straight forward process:

  1. Cargo arrives at the port/airport under a transit or transshipment manifest.
  2. Customs verifies documents and approves movement without full import clearance.
  3. Cargo is stored temporarily in a bonded or Designated Zone facility.
  4. A new export or onward shipment document is processed.
  5. Cargo is loaded onto the next vessel/flight and departs to its final destination. This process allows goods to move through the UAE quickly without paying local duties.
